Tangy sat alone in the forest, not knowing where to go or what to do. She wandered through the evergreen tree forest, looking for someone or something that could help her. While walking, she tripped over a tree stump and woke up a grizzly bear sleeping next to a tree. The bear angrily started chasing Tangy. Tangy screamed and ran as fast as she could. The bear chased Tangy through the woods. She had nowhere else to run but towards the river. "Oh I hate doing this!" Tangy thought to herself as she jumped into the river. The bear arrived at the river and scratched at Tangy, ripping off her collar as she tried to swim away. The bear jumped into the river and swam after her. Tangy went underwater and swam the opposite direction, trying to trick the bear. After having swam for twenty minutes, she spotted a house at the end of the river with an orchard of fruit trees in the front yard. "I wonder what was up with that bear.." Tangy said as she got out of the river and shook herself dry. Tangy's stomach growled. "I'm starving.." She got out of the river and climbed up one of the apple trees, then shook an apple off the tree.
"Ouch!" A voice at the bottom of the tree said.
"Oh, sorry!" Said Tangy.
"Wait... who are you?" Said a cat at the bottom of the tree.
"My name is Tangy." Said Tangy nervously. "I don't mean to steal, I'm just very hungry!" Tangy's stomach was growling even louder.
"No it's ok!" Said the cat at the bottom of the tree. "My name is Star." Star climbed up the tree.
"Nice to meet you, Star." Said Tangy with a friendly smile.
"I think you should get down though. My owner doesn't like stray cats. Especially if they eat from her fruit trees."
Tangy instantly frowned. "What?! I'm not a stray!"
Star look at Tangy's neck. "Then where's your collar?" She asked curiously.
Suddenly the door opened. An old lady came out. "Oh Star, where are- AHH!" The old lady screamed. "A stray! Eating from MY fruit trees!" The lady ran inside and grabbed a broom.
"Run!" Said Star. Tangy jumped off the tree and ran.
"Not from MY trees!" The lady shouted, trying to hit Tangy with her broom. "Disgusting vermin you stray cats are!" The lady went over to Star. "Did that stray cat hurt you? Poor kitty, come inside. I'm giving you a bath after having touched that disgusting cat. I hope you don't have rabies now."
Tangy burst into tears after hearing what the old lady said. She ran away crying, feeling like she had made a huge mistake. Suddenly it started raining. Tangy wandered around the woods in the cold rain for hours, not knowing where else to go. "I'm so cold and hungry!" Said Tangy. "Can someone please help me?!" She cried. Tangy stopped when she saw gates leading into a village. The village was filled with dog houses. "Hello?" She said, looking through the gate. "Is anyone there?" No one answered. Tangy felt like she had no choice but to climb the gates into the village. "Hey." A soft, but firm, deep voice behind her said. Tangy's heart stopped.
